HyCan 2025 to Make Hyderabad a Truly Dog-Friendly and Safe City
HYDERABAD, Oct 28 (The CONNECT): Aimed at making Hyderabad a truly dog-friendly and safe city, the Hyderabad Canine Club has announced HyCan 2025, one of India’s most loved and largest pet events, celebrating the deep bond between people and animals. To be held on November 8 and 9, 2025, at the OM Convention in Narsingi from 10 am to 8 pm, the event promises to be a delightful weekend for every animal lover, featuring over 500 dogs, 100 cats, and thousands of visitors.
Organised by the Hyderabad Canine Club in association with GHMC, Rashtra Raksha University (RRU), and the Kennel Club of India (KCI), HyCan 2025 goes beyond being a pet show. It’s a movement dedicated to creating awareness, compassion, and connection between humans and animals. The two-day celebration will include pet shows for dogs and cats, an exciting Aqua Zone showcasing 80 to 100 varieties of fish, and exhibits by pet businesses offering a wide range of products and services for animal care and welfare.
In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, HyCan 2025 partners with the Government of Telangana and GHMC to launch “Safe With Dogs”, a public awareness campaign designed to reduce fear, build understanding, and promote responsible pet ownership. The initiative seeks to make Hyderabad a truly inclusive and safe city for both people and pets to coexist harmoniously. GHMC will invite pet-friendly cafés, shops, and establishments to participate in workshops at HyCan, where they will learn about responsible pet care and dog safety, earn a GHMC-endorsed certificate, and display a “Safe With Dogs” sticker as a mark of commitment.
The program will run four times a day over the two-day event and will be inaugurated by the Collector of Hyderabad, offering strong civic value and a positive message of collaboration between city institutions and citizens for public safety and animal welfare.
Adding another meaningful dimension, HyCan 2025 will also host the National Canine Bravery Awards, jointly organised by the RRU Commando K9 Academy and the Kennel Club of India. This symbolic collaboration shines a spotlight on India’s police and security K9 units — the silent heroes who serve the nation with courage and loyalty. Entries from Central and State Police K9 units across India are being reviewed, and selected stories of bravery will be featured in HyMag, HyCan’s official publication. During the event, the top two or three K9s will be honoured with the National Canine Bravery Award in the presence of senior police and CPO dignitaries, celebrating their selfless service to the nation.
The weekend will also feature the All-Breed Championship Dog Shows, judged by six international experts, a Cat Championship, an Aquatic Display with rare fish, and an International Dog Grooming Competition, along with grooming seminars and cat grooming workshops. Plenty of fun activities and interactive sessions are planned for families and children, ensuring that every visitor—whether they come for learning, leisure, or love of animals—takes home a memory to cherish.
From elite competitions to inspiring collaborations, HyCan 2025 promises to be much more than a pet show. It’s a celebration of companionship, courage, and community — where Hyderabad comes together to say loud and clear: we’re safer, happier, and kinder with dogs.
