Feeling Is Healing: Pune Centre Pioneers AI Emotional Diagnostics

JWC has non-invasive emotional scan that maps the Navarasas within 60 seconds

PUNE, Nov 19 (The CONNECT) — In a global first, Pune’s Jehangir Wellness Centre (JWC) has begun integrating AI-based emotional assessments into routine preventive care through a partnership with Emoscape, a medical-grade Emotion AI platform developed by Nihilent. The move positions India at the cutting edge of human-centric healthcare, where emotional and physical well-being are treated as one continuum.

Every visitor to JWC can now opt for a non-invasive emotional scan that maps the nine Navarasas — Raudra, Bhayanaka, Hasya, Shringara, Adbhuta, Bibhatsa, Shanta, Veera and Karuna — within 60 seconds. Using safe, contactless tech, Emoscape tracks emotional intensities and patterns that clinicians interpret alongside traditional health markers, offering fresh insights into how emotional states may influence symptoms, recovery and resilience.

By embedding this into routine wellness checks, JWC is signalling a shift from viewing emotional health as an adjunct to treating it as a core diagnostic element.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (Retd), Former Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, said, “Medicine is not only about curing disease; it is about understanding the human being in totality. Emoscape brings scientific clarity to what we intuitively know — emotional and physical health are inseparable.”

Cowas Jehangir, Trustee, Jehangir Hospital, added, “True wellness lies in understanding the mind–body connection. Integrating AI-driven emotional assessment is another milestone in our journey toward progressive, holistic healthcare.”

L.C. Singh, Founder & Executive Vice Chairman, Nihilent, said, “Our mission has always been to humanise technology. Emoscape helps healthcare see what was once invisible — our emotions — because healing begins with understanding the whole person.”

Vinod Sawantwadkar, CEO, Jehangir Hospital, described the platform as “the next frontier in integrative healthcare,” adding that it “bridges emotional awareness with medical insight to give a more complete understanding of each individual’s health journey.”

JWC remains one of the few centres in India offering truly holistic care across body, mind and spirit. With Emoscape’s emotional assessments now layered onto medical reports, clinicians can tailor interventions more precisely — a model resonating across demographics. From professionals battling burnout and adolescents navigating identity shifts to seniors coping with loneliness, clients are discovering the clinical value of emotional clarity. Each scan is confidential and processed under stringent data-privacy norms.

The launch marks Emoscape’s first institutional deployment in healthcare after extensive validation across learning, sports and corporate environments. Its adoption at JWC is expected to accelerate interest from hospitals and clinics nationwide as they move toward more empathetic, context-aware models of care.

By placing emotional intelligence at the heart of medical innovation, this collaboration positions Pune on the global wellness map — proving that the future of medicine will be not just technologically advanced, but profoundly human.
