Uttar Dakshin’s 15th season pairs Hindustani, Carnatic maestros in jugalbandi
HYDERABAD, Jan 18 (The CONNECT) — This Valentine’s Day, Hyderabad will host a musical confluence of India’s classical traditions as Uttar Dakshin – Season 15 brings together Hindustani and Carnatic maestros in its signature jugalbandi format.
The annual concert series, organised by Surmandal in association with Vivid Arts & Entertainment, will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Ravindra Bharathi, from 6.30 pm onwards.
Renowned Hindustani vocalist Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, celebrated for his powerful gayaki and Jaipur-Atrauli lineage, will share the stage with globally acclaimed Carnatic flautist Shashank Subramanyam, known for his virtuosity and innovative approach to the bamboo flute.
Over the years, Uttar Dakshin has carved a distinct niche by uniting North and South Indian classical traditions through collaborative performances that emphasise musical dialogue and cultural unity.
Adding rhythmic depth to the evening will be V Narhari on tabla, representing the Hindustani tradition, and Satish Patri on mridangam, anchoring the Carnatic laya framework.
