PHDCCI-organised Global Sustainability Conclave focuses on increased transparency and informed decision-making.
NEW DELHI, Mar 20 (The CONNECT) – Creating the right ecosystem for scaling solar is very important, especially in terms of policy regulations with removing blockades for the deployment of private capital that will promote sustainable growth.
Stating this, Ramesh Kumar Kuruppath, Chief of Unit (Programme & Projects Implementation Cluster), International Solar Alliance (ISA), stressed yesterday that creating a guarantee mechanism for investor confidence is also very important.
He was speaking at the PHDCCI-organised Global Sustainability Conclave on Fostering Collaborative Solutions For Environmental Advocacy Leading To A Sustainable Future.
Kuruppath said The issue of global sustainability is very complex, and the entire narrative has changed since 2015 in terms of SDG goals, IDC commitment etc. A lot has happened since then, such as geopolitical tensions arising and pandemics occurring, therefore there is a need to relook at our approach, he said.
Kuruppath stated that solar will play an important role and will be a key player driving the entire ecosystem. Also, there’s a long way to go, and everything happens with partnership. He added, there are three important parameters, first is energy access, then energy security, especially in the context of geopolitical issues, and finally, energy transition to low carbon and more renewables.
Keshav Singhal, Head of Sustainability, Noida International Airport shared insights about the Noida International Airport (NIA), a greenfield airport located in Jewar. Envisioned as a confluence of Swiss efficiency and Indian hospitality, NIA aims to become India’s leading airport in terms of customer service, efficiency, digital services, and commitment to minimal environmental impact.
Matthias Ong, Head of Disclosure and Environmental Data (APAC), CDP stressed the importance of disclosure in scaling up sustainability efforts, advocating for increased transparency and informed decision-making.
Shivam Batham, Sr. AVP, Invest India, said, the time has come where there is a need for companies to enter the energy storage domain to increase the efficiency of energy transition.
Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Executive Director, PHDCCI stressed the significance of environmental consciousness, noting India’s initiatives such as the ISA and the PM’s LIFE mission, which focus on transitioning to green energy. He urged Indians to take responsibility and contribute to sustainability efforts.
