Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana aims to eradicate female feticide, foster gender equality, prevent child marriages, enhance the health and education of girls and so on
LUCKNOW, Feb 15 (The CONNECT) – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a rise in the grant for six categories under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana amount from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000
The grants that come into force from the financial year 2024-25, are given provided from the birth of daughters up to admission in undergraduate or diploma courses.
Since assuming office in 2017, the Chief Minister has prioritized women’s empowerment, dignity, and self-reliance, an official release said.
In April 2019, the Women’s Welfare Department launched the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana with a multifaceted agenda. This initiative aims to eradicate female feticide, foster gender equality, prevent child marriages, enhance the health and education of girls, offer support for their self-reliance, and cultivate a positive societal perception towards girls, among other objectives.
Director of the Women’s Welfare Department, Sandeep Kaur, said initial amount of Rs 2,000 given at the time of birth has been increased to Rs 5000. For the completion of all vaccinations in one year, the amount goes up from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.
Besides, the Rs 2000 given for admission to the first class of a girl has now been increased to Rs 3000. In the fourth category, for admission to class six, the government provides Rs 2000, which has been increased to Rs 3000.
In the fifth category, Rs 3000 given for admission to class 9, now increased to Rs 5000. In the sixth category, girls, who have passed the tenth or twelfth grade, or have been enrolled in a diploma/ undergraduate programme for two years or more, will get Rs 7000 instead of Rs 5,000
Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized on Thursday the pivotal role of women’s self-reliance in fostering a strong society. He highlighted that in societies where women are empowered, progress becomes inevitable.
Addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, the Chief Minister said, “In the year 2047, when the country completes its 100th year of independence, we will get a ‘Viksit Bharat’ with half of the population experiencing empowerment. The government will make efforts at every level for women’s empowerment so that their safety, respect, and self-reliance are ensured.”
During the event, he engaged with beneficiary women associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and disbursed part-time loans amounting to Rs 54 crore 25 lakh to 3617 self-help groups. The Chief Minister emphasized that by empowering half of the population, the government can propel the nation to new heights of development.
“The government assures all women of its unwavering commitment to protecting their interests and taking the benefits of government schemes to all the needy people diligently and with utmost responsibility,” he affirmed.
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s vision for women’s respect and safety, he pointed out that women in Gorakhpur are leading self-reliant lives through self-help groups, NGOs, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
CM Yogi underscored the significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act passed during the Lok Sabha session recently. This act aims to enhance women’s representation in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, providing them with 33 percent reservation without discrimination. Previously, the representation of women in these Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas was disproportionately low, but now, with this reservation, they will have a fairer representation, he stated.
Anti-filariasis drive: In a push to eradicate filariasis from the state, the Yogi government has initiated a door-to-door administration of anti-filarial medications across several districts as part of the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign.
In line with the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this initiative aims to reach every household in the state in the battle against the debilitating disease.
As a result of effective monitoring by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, within the first four days of the door-to-door campaign itself, about 20 percent of people have consumed the medicine. This campaign will run until February 28.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged the healthcare teams not only to distribute the medication, but also to educate the populace, emphasizing the importance of awareness in achieving the campaign’s goals.
Since assuming office in 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has embarked on a crusade against numerous serious diseases prevalent in the state, an official announcement said.
