Yogi said, owing to proactive policies, UP ranked 2nd in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ matrix from its earlier 16th position
LUCKNOW, Nov 2 (The CONNECT) -On the occasion of Dhanteras festival Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the state would soon become India’s top economy.
At present, UP trails Maharashtra as the country’s top economy in terms of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Yogi underlined UP was ranked 6th largest economy when he assumed power in March 2017, but now it ranked 2nd second in the pecking order due to transparency and good governance.
On Dhanteras, devout Hindus offer special prayers to the goddess of wealth Lakshmi seeking prosperity and good health.
“If we continue to work in a transparent manner, then Uttar Pradesh will soon become the ‘number one’ economy,” the CM said while addressing a function to hand over appointment letters to the new batch of assistant engineers recruited through the Public Service Commission.
The CM noted owing to proactive policies, UP was also ranked 2nd in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ matrix from its earlier 16th position.
He claimed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dispensation had created more public and private sector jobs in the last four and half years that the previous 15 years.
Taking a jibe at previous regimes, the CM alleged there was a time when the different development authorities in UP had become hubs of corruption. “We deployed good officers and organised special camps to resolve issues and fixed the deadline for work to win the confidence of people.”
Yogi said the UP government was using technology to mitigate the pendency of cases in the development authorities to accelerate stalled projects.
