Powering the Forces - MQ-9B Drones

India set to approve 30 General Atomics MQ-9B Attack Drones

Army, Navy, Indian Air Force want them ASAP

(By Arrangement with INDIA STRATEGIC)

New Delhi. It’s literally going to be a great New Year Gift to the three Services: 10 General Atomics armed Predator drones each for the Army, Navy and Indian Air Force. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is set to accord approval for a total of 30 MQ 9B Predators at the next meeting of its Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), likely in January 2021.

Naval Chief Admiral Karambir Singh told India Strategic that the acquisition of the Predators is high on the Government’s agenda and that the DAC is likely to grant the Acceptance of Necessity (AON) – or approval – at its next meeting. This has to be followed by the Indian Navy and Ministry of Defence with a Letter of Request (LoR) to the US Navy and Department of Defense to formally initiate the process, and the US would then respond with a Letter of Acceptance (LOA). The agreement in principle is already there.

IAF and Army would likewise tie up with US Air Force and US Army.
