HYDERABAD, Dec 24 (The CONNECT) – Dogs and cats, much like human beings, can donate blood!
According to Bohbby Chauhan of dog specialist company Petting Matters, dogs and cats like human beings can donate blood.
Though nearly 200 pet animal blood donations have been organised over the last five years in the city, there is not much awareness among the pet parents, Chauhan said at the conclusion of the three-day twin Expos PETEX and Hyderabad Kids Fair here.
Dogs can donate blood like human beings once every three months. They have 12 blood groups and 11 cross-matching groups. But unfortunately, the twin cities do not  have a single canine blood bank, he said.

The twin expos together saw 150 exhibitors showcasing their products and services and the
event saw an overwhelming response. More than 30,000 visitors visited during the three days.
Another social entrepreneur, Roystian Foundation, was felicitated for their unique idea, a dog food vending machine, which takes used pet water bottles and in return disposes​ pet food for the benefit of the street dogs.
