UP government ramps up COVID tests, vaccinations in rural parts

LUCKNOW, June 8 (The CONNECT) - Uttar Pradesh continues to lead India’s vaccination drive with over 33 crore total doses of Covid-19 jabs administered so far.

The state has been running a successful vaccination campaign since the rollout of the mass immunisation drive, apart from conducting the highest number of Covid Tests. At least 33.05 crore out of the total 194 crore doses administered in the country are from UP.

Uttar Pradesh also appeared as the only state to test more than 115,208,267 samples for Covid-19 so far, an official release said. The testing was particularly ramped up to reach out to the rural pockets of the state.

The state government is providing vaccination cover to all children between 12 to 17 years of age in a time-bound manner. So far, over 2,49,77,612 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17 and over 1,12,09,139 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 12-14 in the state.

UP is followed by Maharashtra with 16.74 crore doses administered so far. In terms of percentage, about 93.44 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated and 100 percent have received one vaccine dose.
