Budget Lacks Clear Roadmap
The impact of the proposed initiatives will depend on the effective implementation of the budget, writes PALLAVI JHA
The budget for the current year places a significant emphasis on empowering young individuals and creating opportunities for them. There is, however, room for improvement in terms of the proposals for human capital development. Capacity building is a long-term process and requires a comprehensive roadmap to ensure success. The lack of a clear roadmap in this regard is disappointing.
The modernisation of teacher training and the emphasis on new-age skills in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY) 4.0 scheme are welcome steps in the right direction but not adequate. The budget seems to be reiterating old ideas, it could have gone further in terms of addressing the many real challenges faced in Skilling and Education both from GST and enabling the ecosystem perspective.
The impact of the proposed initiatives will depend on the effective implementation of the budget. It is important that the proposed initiatives to have a real impact, the government must ensure timely budgetary sanctions to respective departments to bring these ideas to fruition.
