HYDERABAD, Sep 19 (The CONNECT) – Interior design is all about space management and not just about furniture or painting, said Sarosh H Wadia, president of Sarosh Wadia, president of Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID).
The profession is growing by leaps and bounds, but it is not regulated, Wadia said on the sidelines of induction of IIID’s Hyderabad Regional Chapter which has 620 members and is in its Silver Jubilee Year.
Wadia said the government considers interior designers as self-employed professionals. Since there is no regulation, some people choose to get their design training from reputed institutions while others learn only on the job. If the profession is to flourish, it has to be regulated, he explained.
The IIID will come out with self-regulatory guidelines soon, he said
