LG Vinai Kumar Saxena Inaugurates The Building
Modicare Foundation was set up in 1996 by Samir Kumaar Modi, in memory of his beloved grandfather Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi
NEW DELHI, Feb 10 (The CONNECT) – With a vision to empower the underprivileged children, Modicare Foundation constructed the K.K. Modi Khwabgah Block at the Delhi Nagar Nigam Pratibha School in Jasola. The newly developed Municipal Corporation of Delhi school block was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena and Samir Kumaar Modi, Vice Chairman of Modicare Foundation.
Modicare Foundation was set up in 1996 by Samir Kumaar Modi, in memory of his beloved grandfather Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi, with the overarching vision of empowering children, adolescents, women and the underprivileged. Following a holistic approach to child development, Modicare Foundation has lent extensive support to upgrade the infrastructure of the schools to build a conducive learning environment where these students imbibe new ways of learning and development.
The K K Modi Khwabgah block is highly functional with unique construction elements that make it world-class. The building is constructed using the traditional terrazzo technique, which is both sustainable and eco-friendly. With a specific focus on student requirements, the building has double wall insulation to ensure that the classrooms are warm in winter and cool in summer. The building is made of structural steel, making it resistant to earthquakes and thereby increasing the safety standards for the students. The roof of the school structure is built in the traditional vault technique with Guna Tubes.
Additionally, to boost the teaching levels, the school has been equipped with newly trained teachers, interactive co-curricular activities, learning tools, medical facilities, maintenance, security and ergonomic state-of-the-art furnishings, which will further help in a facilitative learning environment for the children. This avant-garde school block made with the latest technology can act as an inspiration for others to collaborate with government to build high quality infrastructure for students in MCD Schools to help nurture their aspirations.
The foundation has been working with the erstwhile South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) since 2014 to provide guidance and education to the underprivileged students. In the past, the Foundation partnered with a SDMC school in New Friends Colony where it upgraded the infrastructure, provided trained teachers and increased the enrolment and teaching levels, before handing the school back. Currently, the Foundation works in four schools of MCD. This is a live example of how government and non-government organizations can come together for the public good.
