DGP Dr Jitender says the State police response time is among the fastest in India—10 minutes in urban areas and 15–20 minutes in rural regions.

HYDERABAD, Apr 10 (The CONNECT) – The Telangana Police is the best in the country, said State Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender said quoting Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar rankings

“We are on par with the finest forces across Indian states, Dr Jitender (that’show he writes his name) said and explained that as per Dainik Bhaskar, Telangana police ranked No. 1 in India in terms of safety and security, scoring 6.91 out of 10—well ahead of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh/

Addressing an interactive session hosted by FTCCI (Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry) on Innovation in Vigilance and Public Safety on Wednesday late last evening, the top police officer highlighted that policing is a continuous process of improvement.

“The Government of Telangana has allocated ₹800 crore for enhancing police mobility. Our response time is among the fastest in India—10 minutes in urban areas and 15–20 minutes in rural regions.”

He also emphasized the impact of initiatives like She Teams, which have significantly improved women’s safety in the state. Additionally, the Telangana Police have established two specialized units: the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and the Narcotics Control Bureau, both led by top officers.

These units have been further strengthened in the past six months, resulting in a 1.5x increase in case registrations and arrests compared to the previous year.

“Our zero-tolerance approach to drugs is yielding results. The cultivation of drug-producing crops has declined, and the market price of drugs has increased due to scarcity,” he said.

The Cyber Crimes Bureau’s data model is regarded as one of the best in the country and has been replicated and appreciated by the Union Government. “The victim refund rate in cybercrime cases has drastically improved—from ₹1 crore in 2023 to ₹185 crore in 2024,” he noted.

“Greed is a major factor in many cybercrime cases. While it may not always be the sole or primary reason behind becoming a victim, it certainly plays a significant role,” said Dr. Jitender, Director General of Police, Telangana, said.

Dr. Jitender also praised Telangana’s traffic challan system, which is cashless, contactless, evidence-based, and people-centric. “This model is unique and has been successfully implemented over the past ten years.”
