Navi Mumbai To Recycle Plastic Into Usable Items

Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailash Shinde says Students and citizens have enthusiastically responded to the call for ‘Plastic-free homes’

NAVIMUMBAI, Aug 20 (The CONNECT)- Targeting to keep every home plastic-free, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a special drive and collected 141kg of plastic items.

NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde said the plastic will not be sent to solid waste management centre, instead it will be recycled to make different usable items which will be made available to the people later.

Students and citizens have enthusiastically responded to the call for ‘Plastic-free homes’

NMMC in association with Project Mumbai will every week collect plastic and e-waste, the civic body announced.

Housing societies, schools and offices can register their willingness to deposit plastic and e-waste with the nearest ward offices.

Navi Mumbai has been earning top rankings in the Swachh Bharat campaign.
