The Balanagar Technocrat Industrial Estate, one of the city’s oldest, is home to over 250 industrial units employing more than 10,000 workers, many of whom are women with no access to quality childcare.
“While the rich can afford daycare and preschools, poor industrial workers have no such option. Aveksha bridges this gap—and it’s completely free,” said Uma Ghurka. .
Madhu Tyagi added that COWE has set up 9 centres in industrial colonies, 6 in urban bastis, and 4 at construction sites, making a tangible impact on nearly 450 first-time working mothers and providing direct employment to 50 women.
