Don’t hug, it can spread COVID

WHO cautions as the world enters holiday season

“Its terrible,” said Dr Ryan. “It’s a brutal dilemma for many,” as the nations enter holiday period for the Christmas and New Year.

GENEVA, Dec 8 (BNC Network) – As the West struggles with distancing as part of the COVID19 protocol, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has strictly said a strict no to hugging.

Don’t hug, said Dr Michael Ryan, Executive Director, WHO’s Health Emergency Programme, yesterday addressing a virtual global media meet.

A journalist wanted to know as to what is the protocol for hugging and Dr Ryan and another WHO official and epidemiologist Dr Maria Van Kerkhove took pains to explain the need for social distancing to beat the virus cycle.

“Its terrible,” said Dr Ryan. “It’s a brutal dilemma for many,” as the nations enter holiday period for the Christmas and New Year.

WHO has been religiously insisting on social distancing, wearing a mask and hand hygiene as part of the strict adherence to COVID protocol.

The global health body is concerned at the scale of the pandemic in the US in particular despite the country having the best standards medical facilities and technology.
