Handloom Stalls @T-State Bus Stands

Govt To Give Big Push & Marketing Support To Sector

 

Telangana Textiles and Apparel Policy has attracted great investments and because of which leading company Welspun has invested Rs 2000 crore in the state, said a top official.

HYDERABAD, Aug 18 (The CONNECT) – Noting that the handloom sector needs is marketing help and design intervention, the Telangana Government has decided to set up handloom stalls at all Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus stands across the State.

All the government undertakings too will have a platform to sell handlooms,  said M Venkatesh, State Enforcement Officer & Regional Deputy Director, Telangana Department of Handlooms and Textiles.

Speaking at the Handloom Exhibition & Enlightenment Session organized by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI)  on Friday last, he said Telangana is a great hub for Textiles and Handloom products. Telangana Textiles and Apparel Policy has attracted great investments and because of which leading company Welspun has invested Rs 2000 crore in the state.

Dr Manoj Lanka, State Director of KVIC (The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), who was the chief guest, highlighted various schemes of the Union Government such as PMEGP—Prime Minister’s Employment Generation program, Honey Mission, SFURTI (Scheme of Found for Regeneration), Gramodyog Vikas Yojana etc.

The turnover of Khadi and Village Industries Commission products has crossed Rs.1.34 lakh crores figure. In the last 9 financial years, there has been an unprecedented growth of 332% in the sale of indigenous Khadi products made by artisans in rural areas.

He called upon artisans to utilize the machinery and toolkits being provided to create as many employment opportunities as possible and contribute to the construction of a self-reliant India.

KVIC executed several key programmes under the ‘Gram Vikas Yojana for the welfare of the deprived artisans. He said that this scheme intended to uplift the artisans by providing skill training and free tools and machines.
